Who can do this training?

Participants over the age of 12 years can attend (12 - 15 year olds Restricted Licence will apply)Please note: Persons who are 11 years old and nearing their 12th Birthday can attend the course, however they cannot be issued with a licence from VicRoads until after their 12th BirthdayPersonal Watercraft Endorsement for persons over 16 years.Updated Eligibility Statement given out by Accredited Training Providers Pursuant to regulation 30 of the Marine Safety Regulations 2012 (Vic) the following persons are not eligible to apply for a marine licence:A person who is disqualified from obtaining a marine licence, during the period of that disqualificationA person who is the holder of a marine licence that has been suspended, during the period of that suspensionA person who is disqualified from obtaining a licence or other authority to be the master of or to operate a recreational vessel under(i) the law of another State or Territory, or (ii) the law of another country,in circumstances which, if they occurred in Victoria, would have resulted in the person being disqualified from obtaining a marine licence in VictoriaA person who is the holder of a licence or other authority to operate a recreational vessel issued by another State or Territory that has been suspended, during the period of that suspension·         Persons aged under 16 years of age are not eligible to obtain a personal watercraft endorsementApplicants should also note that they will be required to meet the health requirements for operating a car, motorcycle or boat and this may include further testing where appropriate.

If I have a group, will you come out and do a private course?

Yes, private courses can be run for groups in most areas, providing you can supply a business or commercial venue that meets required standards.  Courses cannot be held in residential properties under any circumstances.  Please ring to discuss requirements and make bookings.

Why are your courses so cheap compared to others?

That's a great question with a simple explanation.  Seaton Training is a Registered Training Organisation and is directly approved by Transport Safety Victoria.  You will find our business on both training.gov.au and as an approved provider on ST Vics site.Many of our competitors are sub contractors of an approved training provider and have to pay that provider a commission per person which drives up their fee.  As you are dealing directly with an approved training provider with no middle man we can provide the course at a more competitive price.Not only that, we are a small, family operated business and we truly believe in providing affordable courses that families can afford to attend.  Our motto is that if you don't get through, we won't take your money. Where are your in-person courses held

This course is seasonal.  We have high demand in the summer and therefore run many locations in Regional Victoria and Metro for in person training at that time of year.  In the winter there is a very low demand for this training however we service Bendigo and Shepparton all year around.  In winter most students choose our online course as you can complete the training from anywhere.Click on our Book tab at the top of the page to check current courses available.

Can I do the course online?

Absolutely!  Our online course is very popular.  The course is approved by Safe Transport Victoria and is designed to assist you to gain the knowledge required to obtain your Victorian Marine Licence & PWC Endorsement.  This course removes barriers for people to access training if they don't live in an area where a course is available.You do need basic computer skills, access to the internet and a device with a microphone and camera.  Lap top, Personal Computer or Tablet are suitable, but smart phones are not an option.The course takes four hours which is the same as the in person training.  On booking you gain access to the course content which takes two hours, and then you attend your Zoom session at the time and date you booked to complete the course and do your licence assessment. Question 7

What Identification do I need to bring to the course?

You need to bring your Drivers Licence or Learners Permit to the course so that the trainer can verify your Identity on arrival.If you don't have that you will need to provide one PRIMARY ID (Birth Certificate or Passport) and one SECONDARY ID (Medicare Card). Do I have to do a test to pass the course?

At the conclusion of your training there is a multiple choice test.  But please don't worry, our training will set you up for success and if for any reason you don't pass we will continue to work with you.The Marine Licence Test consists of 30 questions and the pass rate is 26 out of 30.The Personal Watercraft Endorsement test consists of 15 questions and the pass rate is 13 out of 15

Question 9

If I fail the test, is there a re-testing fee?

No, Seaton Training will not charge you to be re-tested.  Online courses - Depending on the situation, you can stay back after the course and do a different version of the test, but in most cases we recommend that you join our next course and re do the revision and test.  If that is not suitable we will work with you to find a solution that works for you and us.In-Person courses - If you fail we offer that you can re do a different version of the test the same night, or come to our next course at the same location free of charge.

Question 10

How do I get my Marine Licence Certificate

For our in person training courses at our locations you will be issued with your certificate at the course on successful completion.For Online courses certificates will be mailed out to you.  There is an option for Express Post for an additional fee.Certificates are only valid for 12 months from the course date and are not a licence.  You must visit VicRoads and pay your licensing fee before you can go boating or use a PWC.

Question 11

I've lost my certificate.  Can I get a new one issued?

If you require a re-print of your certificate, please contact our office via email or phone to arrange. Certificates will only be re-issued if they are still valid (within 12 months of course date) and the cost for this service is $15.00 per re-print payable via credit card or direct deposit.  All re-prints will be posted within 2 business days of the request and payment being received.

Question 12

How much do VicRoads charge for my licence

The certificate that we issue is valid for 12 months but it's not a licence.  You need to take your valid certificate into VicRoads and pay the licensing fee before you can go boating to get your Licence.For current fees please visit VicRoads Marine licence fees | VicRoads
