Updated Eligibility Statement given out by Accredited Training Providers
Pursuant to regulation 30 of the Marine Safety Regulations 2012 (Vic) the following persons are not eligible to apply for a marine licence:
A person who is disqualified from obtaining a marine licence, during the period of that disqualification
A person who is the holder of a marine licence that has been suspended, during the period of that suspension
A person who is disqualified from obtaining a licence or other authority to be the master of or to operate a recreational vessel under
(i) the law of another State or Territory, or
(ii) the law of another country,
in circumstances which, if they occurred in Victoria, would have resulted in the person being disqualified from obtaining a marine licence in Victoria
A person who is the holder of a licence or other authority to operate a recreational vessel issued by another State or Territory that has been suspended, during the period of that suspension
· Persons aged under 16 years of age are not eligible to obtain a personal watercraft endorsement
Applicants should also note that they will be required to meet the health requirements for operating a car, motorcycle or boat and this may include further testing where appropriate.
Absolutely! Our online course is very popular. The course is approved by Safe Transport Victoria and is designed to assist you to gain the knowledge required to obtain your Victorian Marine Licence & PWC Endorsement. This course removes barriers for people to access training if they don't live in an area where a course is available.
You do need basic computer skills, access to the internet and a device with a microphone and camera. Lap top, Personal Computer or Tablet are suitable, but smart phones are not an option.
The course takes four hours which is the same as the in person training. On booking you gain access to the course content which takes two hours, and then you attend your Zoom session at the time and date you booked to complete the course and do your licence assessment. This Zoom session takes two hours.

You need to bring your Drivers Licence or Learners Permit to the course so that the trainer can verify your Identity on arrival.
If you don't have that you will need to provide one PRIMARY ID (Birth Certificate or Passport) and one SECONDARY ID (Medicare Card). For the full list of accepted Primary and Secondary IDs please see the attached list.
At the conclusion of your training there is a multiple choice test. But please don't worry, our training will set you up for success and if for any reason you don't pass we will continue to work with you.
The Marine Licence Test consists of 30 questions and the pass rate is 26 out of 30.
The Personal Watercraft Endorsement test consists of 15 questions and the pass rate is 13 out of 15
For our in person training courses at our locations you will be issued with your certificate at the course on successful completion.
For Online courses certificates will be mailed out to you. There is an option for Express Post for an additional fee.
Certificates are only valid for 12 months from the course date and are not a licence. You must visit VicRoads and pay your licensing fee before you can go boating or use a PWC.
If you require a re-print of your certificate, please contact our office via email or phone to arrange. Certificates will only be re-issued if they are still valid (within 12 months of course date) and the cost for this service is $15.00 per re-print payable via credit card or direct deposit. All re-prints will be posted within 2 business days of the request and payment being received.
